Meet the Devon team

Nikki Barnes – Registered Manager

Nikki started her career in care in 1998, quite by accident. The die was cast! Nikki has worked across many areas of the health and social care sector and is committed to providing excellent quality care.

Nikki firmly believes in ensuring that every client is supported the way she would want her own family to be cared for.

Nikki is an experienced care manager and never underestimates the value of her team. She shares the ethos and values of Home Care Preferred and loves working closely with her team in Devon. During her leisure time Nikki is an avid reader, enjoys gardening, and likes to spend time with her family, including her grandsons.

Paulina Tatowicz – Team Leader

Paulina worked as a Health Care Assistant since 2016. She achieved merit grade on Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care. In the late part of 2021 Paulina became a team leader at Home Care Preferred in Devon.
Paulina says “ I cannot imagine myself working anywhere else other than the care profession. I have worked for other Domiciliary Care companies and in a Care Home, but
working for Home Care Preferred helps me to achieve my goals and it gives me all I need to provide the best possible service to our clients. I am just happy again”.

Gina Waterhouse – Finance Executive

Gina started working with Home Care Preferred in 2013. She had left Lloyds bank after a very long career and wanted to be in a sector where the work felt more worthwhile.

Knowing that the duties she carries out makes a positive difference to many people’s lives is the most important aspect of Gina’s work at Home Care Preferred.

Outside of Home Care Preferred, Gina enjoys a variety of interests including, music, yoga, reading, cooking & baking, good food & wine, gardening, flower arranging, walking, TV dramas. Gina says the most important things in her life are, her immediate family (son and husband), other family and friends, good health and doing the right thing.

Ken Waterhouse - Founder

Ken started in the care sector in 1987 when he opened his first care home. Since then he has owned and operated award winning care environments before launching his first domiciliary care service, Home Care Preferred.

Since Home Care Preferred started in 2011 the company has gone from strength to strength. During the steady growth the focus has always been on striving towards an excellent standard of care and delivering a highly personal service. Outside of work Ken loves spending time with his family and friends. On the top of his long list of interests is music.

Equally important, our amazing Support Assistants

Our Support Assistants are a diverse group of people. The common thread is that they all share the values of Home Care Preferred and are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of our clients.

We recruit people who have a can do attitude, people that hold good communication skills, and are honest, fair and who have empathy for those they support.

Since our opening we have recruited some of the kindest and most genuine people available. We are very proud of our Support Assistants and feel confident our clients will be glad to have any of our team members support them in their home.
